Detailed Description*:Over 5000 sq feet of fear awaits you as you enter Professor Whitaker's Museum of Fright and Haunted Estate. Newly discovered this year during excavation of the Professor's surrounding property, the entrance of an abandoned mine shaft was unearthed. This particular mine shaft was active in the early part of the 1900's and a small community was built on the riches that were discovered. Unfortunately it wasn't only wealth that was hidden within the mines. This land was also the home to a coven of witches. Despite ample warnings, the miners refused to take heed and leave their land. One October night, the witches cursed the town and every soul in it, dooming the miners to an eternity of torment and terror. Take a tour like no other, through the condemned mines and village ruins of a town forever forgotten, until now

I visited Frigthmare Farms this weekend. When we arrived I was impressed by the house facade on the outside of the building very professional. We got in what we thought was the line. We were met by a gypsy woman who started us off with a story of the professor, very well acted. Motion for us to enter & we would be purchasing our tickets shortly. The walk to the ticket line very well done with decor, even got startled by an actor. The ticket line nicely decorated with cornstalks, skulls & pumpkins, & while waiting to purchase tickets we can see the entrance, and it looked like something from Universal Studios, very professional. We waited in line about 15-20 minutes. The actor that led us in had custom costume custom make up & had a great british accent. Once we entered the rules were read to us including no touching the actors & they won't touch you. They also went over what to do in an emergency, which made me know this group putting this on really know what their doing.

So now were in. The lighting, decor were top notch, someone either knows how to build professional sets or spent a lot of money. The actors did a nice job. However the most impressive things were the claustrophobic room & the light tunnel, absolutely amazing. When we exited the building there was a movie screen playing Carrie, concession stand & bonfire.

Overall, staff was very friendly, actors good, sets & effects very very professional. Other than CMC's (which I haven't been to yet this year)would have to say one of the best in the Syracuse area.

Went on Sat. nite and I have to say this is def worth the drive & money. Everything here has a good flow and when you are waiting to go in they purposely put you in a small group so that you can actually experience everything that is going on!!! Loved it and would def go again. As a person said above the light tunnel is fantastic and def the room where well there is no room...Go for sure you will not be disappointed!

I am a self proclaimed haunted house addicted and this one satisfied my addiction! By far the best in this area! These people know what they are doing - magnificent sound and lightning, amazing actors, sets look like they are out of a movie! I would love to give a play by play but you HAVE TO see for yourself!

I will say this: Disney style customer service including parking, tickets, concessions. Even though it was freezing everyone had a smile on their face. Another cool feature was the director was clearly visible from the start as she buzzed around attending to every aspect. She stopped dead in her tracks to ask how our experience was and answered some of our questions. Very cool!

Don't miss this place!

Scariest haunted house EVER! Went last weekend and can’t stop thinking about how awesome it was! EVERYONE in CNY needs to check this place out! Worth the drive and a great value, save time to hang out after.

Price was great, easy to find, props were excellent, staff friendly and always in character. We had a great time, by far the best haunted house in the area. We liked the horror flick at the end with the bonfire. We will definately attend this next year.

Other places have nothing on this place! Frightmare farms is by far the best!!!! They spent a lot time making this place awesome! Great detailed decor, well trained actors, very organized! Want to actually go again with another group!

Great Haunt. The entertainment starts as soon as you arrive, with a breif description of the tale. Nice decorations while waiting to enter. The price was decent. Great detail inside the house! The actors were also very good. A few really good twists inside. Highly recommend checking this place out.

So i went to frightmare farms last night with my wife after reading these comments. Upon arriving we were greeted by a gypsy type of lady, she did well staying in character as she passed us along to the ticket window. In route to the ticket window i rounded a corner and seemingly startled a man whose job i believe was to scare me. We paid the extra $5 each and got the vip(rip) pass which skipped the main line. As we were led in I could hear the complaints of people in line, honestly i would have been pissed too but whatever. Once inside we began our journey. The sets all seemed well done, but room after room it just started to look like a bunch of stuff just crammed in. Its nice to have something to look at as far as scenery and sets but sometimes less is more, but it did look nice. As far as the actors go I thought they did well to stay in character, but i think that for the most part they were lacking in fright. It seemed like an actor was waiting around every other corner or so and a few times i think i startled the actor before they had the chance to scare me. As we continued through our pace must have been to slow as the groups of people behind us caught up to us, that spoiled a bit of it for me as i was trying to take my time and take everything in. As we exited the house we entered the concession area out back. The bonfire was more of a campfire with room for 4 or 5 people and the movie screen was about the size of something in your living room, which i really couldnt see because of a tent in the way with a sign saying reserved for a party on it. It really didnt feel like an area to hang out and unwind in, it really just felt like an exit to me. Overall i would say that this place was cool, but really lacked any big scares, just a couple startles at best. As for the price i wish i hadnt spent the extra money on vip passes, i should have spent the $12 as that seems to be a fair price, $17 was too much for just a haunted house. I try to visit many different places each year and i have to say based on the show they give and the price that this place is way better than screamers hollow and the fairgroungs, those shows are overpriced and weak. As for the price and the overall experience i think the trail of terror and frightmare are pretty close, only a few miles apart too i found out last night, so pretty close in that respect too which made for a nice one-two punch of a night. So i would say that frightmare farms is worth 12 bucks, not quite as scary as i hoped but still good and still worth the drive and money spent.

Went with my 8 and 9 year old. My 8 year old had a "candle" which was a cue for the creepies to tone it down a bit. The staff was excellent, the decorations also. I cannot understate how impressed I was with this place. Someone else said it was Disney quality in terms of customer service and attention to detail - I agree!

BEST.HAUNTED.HOUSE.EVER! It's a lot like Universal's Horror Nights (detailed sets, custom costumes/masks, professional actors, very organized) except closer! You really have to see it to believe it! There was a wait but good things come to those who wait!!!

Drove from Buffalo just to check this place out, waited in what seemed like a never ending line that actually moved really quickly and then came the best time I have had in a long time! Everything was so creative and the effects were really great. The actors are definitely professionally trained! Highly recommend this place!

Went to Frightmare Farms last night... Absolutely amazing!!! The scenes are the most professional around. The actors, the sets and the scares far surpass any haunt you've ever seen. Don't miss this attraction. Can't wait to go again next weekend!!! Thank you Frightmare Farms!!!

Went this past weekend and I am still blown away! I am mad that I didn't get a chance to check out this place last year but I am defiantly going to this place again next weekend. Everything was so in sync from the minute you drive in to the tickets, cue line, HAUNT, bonfire, movie and food!
this has a very old world feel to it at the start and then a vortex effect to bring you to modern day. It was by far the coolest, most creative and best in the northeast by far!
Thank you Frightmare Farms for finally putting CNY on the serious haunt list!

Went tonight....tickets: $12, time in line: 1.5 hours in the cold and rain, hearing my previously "unscareable" 22 year old boyfriend scream along with me like a little girl: PRICELESS!!!

Looks like I am the lucky one who gets to post first for this year! Thought for sure I would be like the 10th but everyone must be still processing the awesomeness!

Let's see where do I start....oh, how about this place is like fine wine - it gets better EVERY YEAR! My review will be a comparison because the other reviews speak for Frightmares perfection!

I was excited to hear they added a trail this year and thinking that the house would be the same. NOPE I think they changed like 75% of it!!! It's definitely a must see plus it looks like they have hired some professional actors to entertain you beforehand. When I arrived I had to park in overflow and got my exercise for the week (hill but just a quick up and down) the parking lot was packed but they must have sacrificed some patrons because the lines were fast! After the house (which I think is bigger then last year too) I was able to flow into another line for the miner themed trail. Quick 5 minute wait there and I was greeted by a familiar face from last year! He is a really talented dude! (Spoiler alert!) He was some kind of person upfront last year with a doll but this year he will be the one to send you to send you on a hellish journey - he definitely set the tone. At first I thought it was going to be boring cauee it take awhile for you to journey to opening but once you are there the "miners" are there to get your heart pumping! Definitely worth the upgrade! Speaking of I think this place is giving the scares away - I paid $18 for something worth $30 or more!

Ok I promise I am almost done!

Changes I noticed: really talented actors and monsters, more organized with signs, all of it is bigger! They added a massive movie screen, a generous bonfire area with a tent to sit under which I did while chowing down on beef stew and cotton candy all while watching The Conjuring!

Bravo to the evil genius' behind this place and keeping me hungry for more! I will be back before they close for the season!
